Evolutionary Haikus With Music

OK, Bumba is still absorbed by the elegance and clarity of Eric Chaisson’s Epic of Evolution and offers the following haikus as a modest (well, not so modest) attempt to summarize that book as well as the wonders of the world in one set of haikus, accompanied by a song which you’ll hear if you click on the arrow.

Unbelievable
Energy

Becomes
Sub-atomic particles…

Energy is matter
Matter is energy
Einstein had it right

Atoms coalesce
Organic molecules
Form
Inevitably…

Organic molecules
Inevitably
Reproduce
Such is life

Worlds emerge
From dust
They come and go
Sing of glory
And better days…

Raise your glass
To Albert Einstein
And Charles Darwin

And Hank Williams too…

Author: Bumba

Shown on a recent visit to the Big Apple, Bumba has written two literary novels and has recorded two CD soundtrack albums to accompany them. Check it out on Bumba Books.

    1. I have to thank (or blame) you for suggesting the music accompaniment. But once I thought about adding a song, Hank’s Lovesick Blues came to mind right away.

  1. My fav is the penultimate piece. Something about it, particularly the lines …sing of glory/And better days, sticks with me.

And I’ll raise a glass to those gifted dudes. I imagine Hank will return the favor.

      1. I’m not sure my comment came across right. One of the downsides (but the only one insofar as I can tell) of being an ass much of the time is that people think you’re ALWAYS being an ass. It’s a small price to pay for my gifts, though.

        1. Sorry. I thought you were making a reference to Hank’s alcohol issues. But thanks for your comments and thanks for visiting, and keep on playin’ that country music.
