I wrote this song about Israel and the Negev desert after my first visit there. It’s a nice song to play along with if you have such inclinations (I mean inclinations to play along, sing along, hum along, tap your feet along kinds of inclinations). I myself enjoy playing it (an unfortunate lilting, somewhat musical inclination, a weakness for rhyme inclination, a slippery slope of snappy tunes sort of inclination). In any case, Desert Wind is on my CD titled Up in the Bronx and Down in LA. My Up in the Bronx novel, written before I recorded the songs in 2011, is, despite all my brave efforts, quite autobiographical. So that’s why I recorded the song for the CD. Huh? See the Up in the Bronx page in the header for more info about the book and also about the soundtrack CD. I was playing the song again the other day, so for your listening pleasure (I hope), and also to perhaps interest you in taking a look at the book…
And to give you someting a little snappier to listen to I’ve addd Lovesick Blues if you’re brave enough to click on it

I really liked your desert wind. Was hoping for a it to be in Hebrew, but enjoyed it just the same.
When I wrote it I didn’t know Hebrew. I did try later to write in Hebrew but never got very far. There was always a lot of excellent Israeli pop music, but I see now that it had little hold on me. Israeli pop and rock music became very stylized and now I’m out of that loop and somehow become tangled up in American folk music again. Out of the loop remains a constant, tho.
…no bravery needed, Stephen!!!
🙂
Wishing you a great week [and Monday of course!]
Thank you, Marina. And thanks for the Monday wishes, which I think I may need today. A very good week to you!
Seeing as how I like ‘snappy,’ I highly enjoyed “Lovesick Blues.” 🙂
Thanks, Snappy. Glad you liked it. It’s a great song.
It certainly is ‘a nice song’!
Thanks. i like it too, but it is almost the same as Sam Coole’s Bring it on Home to Me.
2nd listen – you are right but still good!
Thanks for listening and commenting!
